Gathering the star-studded cast, director Ritchie’s The Gentlemen is an adaptation of the British crime scene that guarantees two elements as genre: humor and charismatic action.
Guy Ritchie has long established his name as a talented and charming director with gangster and crime movies, since Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was released in 1999. The Gentlemen film – new work Most of the British filmmakers continue to follow this familiar theme. Owning an outstanding cast including Charlie Hunnam, Matthew McConaughey, Henry Golding, Colin Farrell and Hugh Grant, the work completely satisfies the public in the perspective of entertainment with fast, funny, mixed mix. Rushing along with unmistakable fashion sense.
The Gentlemen film revolves around the British crime world, where a marijuana tycoon named Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) plans to resell his ten lush green farms to a cunning Jew Matthew Berger (Jeremy Strong ). The business of Mickey and his junior Raymond Smith (Charlie Hunnam) is interrupted by Dry Eye (Henry Golding). In the middle of payments and flip-flops of the mafia world, Fletcher (Hugh Grant), a private detective comes to Raymond to extort money because he has exclusive information about what’s really going on, who is the one mastermind …
The film redefines aesthetics for men
Guy Ritchie is famous for being a “cool” guy, so it’s no surprise that the director puts his taste in mind. Sometimes they work (The Man from U.N.C.L.E), sometimes they don’t (King Arthur and Aladdin are two good examples). This time, The Gentlemen falls into the first category.
The fit suit, expensive glasses, checkerboard uniforms, designer shoes … all exude a sense of true gentlemen at first sight struck the eyes of the audience. Here are some side-by-side information to show Ritchie’s tolerance to dress up for the brothers: the MMA coach’s glasses played by Colin Farrell are vintage goods from an exclusive private store, Fletcher’s suit was reddened to make Hugh Grant a walking fox, revealing the essence of this human.
The cast is full of stars but “uneven bright”
Taking on the lead role of Michael / Mickey, Matthew McConaughey could not become the brightest star because his role has no highlight. It’s just a gangster tycoon who’s good at dressing up and behaving like a king without much psychological progress. Another reason may be because Matthew has become the golden face in the crime scene, he traded from stock to drugs so a follow-up film about weed really does not make people too surprised.
