Bohemian Rhapsody – Fearless Lives Forever

The foot-stomping, Bohemian Rhapsody film celebrating Queen’s music and the life of the extraordinary Freddie Mercury is set to launch in the UK on the 24th of October, in the US on the 2nd of November and its one of the first films where tickets go on sale as long as three months in advance of the release of the movie.

Bohemian Rhapsody is based on the fifteen years between the iconic 1985 Live Aid Wembley performance and the band’s formation, and very much on how Freddie Mercury challenged stereotypes and crushed convention to become the most famous of all entertainers that ever walked the planet. Fans get to follow the dramatic rise of the band through its revolutionary sounds and iconic songs. Celebrate with them as they reach unparalleled success, discover why Freddie unexpectedly shuns Queen when surrounded by dark influences on pursuing a solo career and how the bandmates reunite just before the Live Aid performance.

Mercury Faced life-threatening disease

Facing a life-threatening disease after his life spiralled out of control, Mercury leads the band in what remains the greatest performance in rock music history. Bohemian Rhapsody is packed with the biggest hits of the Queen, and the trailer offers a glimpse into the highs and lows faced by the band as their leading man faced Aids. Drummer Taylor is played by Ben Hardy, and Deacon is portrayed by Joseph Mazzello and Brian May is played by Gwilym Lee.

Bohemian Rhapsody addresses the bands early years, allows fans to be part of their height as they rock stardom, while gems of forgotten truths are brought to the fore. Originally called Smile the band’s name changed, at the behest of Freddie Mercury, within a year to Queen. The film deals respectfully with Freddie’s (played by Rami Malek) fight with aids, although the singer died at 45 in 1991 just before the advent breakthroughs of treatment for Aids.

Criticized for failing to refer to the sexuality of Mercury, the trailer addresses the fact that even though Mercury died known as a gay man, the life of his life was Mary Austin. Band members remember the obvious change when Mercury’s dressing room was no longer visited by hot chicks but attractive men. May revealed that at a later stage, Freddie did explain it in a nonchalant manner when he said I suppose you all realised that I’ve changed my private life. Queen cemented a legacy that continues, to this day to inspire music lovers, dreamer and outsiders. With three months to wait and tickets already on sale the trailer teases with how the anthemic We Will Rock you started, Buddy you’re a young man, hard man… be warned it gets stuck in your head!

Dark Times Call for the return of the Justice League Dark

DC was waiting for the right pitch and right time before bringing back Justice League Dark even though many were surprised that it was not during the relaunch of the DC Rebirth. The events in Justice League Dark directly spins out of Justice League: No Justice and the source wall is torn open; the universe is filled with new threats. The film offers fans the enjoyment of its brisk pace and shadowy heroes shine in a tale of mystery and mythology that unfolds into a dark magical adventure. A new team is needed by the world, a team that can handle the realms of the supernatural part of the worsening state.

Justice’s New Team To Be Reckoned With

It’s a new team that quickly confirms into a force to be reckoned with even though there is no or little mention of the team before them. What is of more interest to writer Tynion is the assembling of an amazing and electric group of personalities rather than focussing on supernatural weapons. Man-Bat and Detective Chimp join Swamp Thing and Zatanna while the new series does borrow a page from the animated film Justice League Dark, which also includes the gateway character while Batman is not dragged into the fray. Wonder Woman is portrayed as a superhero who has always had one foot in the supernatural realm. Combined the characters are more focused and unpredictable than those before them. What takes centre stage is team-building, and Tynion makes the most of the unusual line up of terror and beauty in true DCU magic style. For fans, they quickly see the power behind Tynion and the team behind him.

Artwork Captures Dread Perfectly

Inker Raul Fernandes, artist Alvaro Martinez Bueno and colourist Brad Anderson capture the dread and allure perfectly in this supernatural realm. Anderson’s colours give a haunting quality to the Tree of Wonders while he captures the ethereal nature of unleashed powers well in this story. Martinez Bueno’s figures are well inked by Fernandez who brings a welcome sense of texture and grit to it. Many of the splash images are great while some of the pages appear a bit cramped from their layouts that actually takes away from the story’s momentum visually. Despite a few visual executions that could take a bit of getting used to the visual execution is enjoyable. Justice League Dark features a more unusual and leaner team, and with the overarching conflict, it is bound to appeal to any DC supernatural fan. At the end what matters most is that the Justice League revamp lives up to the hype and everyone loves the strength of the new team.

Either way, this title is taking the lead on being the most anticipated film.

The Old Man & The Gun

While most fall released movies are thrillers, this film is a combination of crime and comedy. In this film, Robert Redford and Sissy Spacek take the leading roles.
