Dark Souls is a special type of game in this day and age; the creators take pleasure in punishing the players repeatedly. A good third of the video for the sequel is just new ways of killing the player. I look forward to it.
Other than that, the IGN interview/reveal also shows updated graphics, better enemy movesets to counter backstabs and cheap shots with a bow, and more world mechanics. The game is coming about without the old director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, seemingly okay.
The best news is that they’re fixing the connection problems that plagued Dark Souls on the PC by actually having dedicated servers.
Dark Souls 2 is coming out when it’s done in 2014.
Two new game videos were released today for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The first video shows off a fight against a gorilla based enemy. What interest is that the enemy’s moveset changes whenever you cut off a limb. If the enemy loses an arm, it’ll try to get Raiden into a headlock. If the enemy loses both arms, it gonna dropkick your ass. Also, an old friend returns, and just in time for Cinco de Mayo it seems.
We get to see a Metal Gear Ray boss battle in the second video. It seems like the strategy is to avoid missile and laser blasts (very Godzilla like) while trying to cut off pieces of armor and limbs. The slow down sword frenzy mode looks to be crucial. There are a few quick time events, but nothing too extreme, meaning that the game won’t play itself.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be released on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in the US on February 19, 2013.
